Commercial Services - Floor Drains

Floor drains see a lot of use and abuse over the years and may be subject to high traffic. If your floor drains aren’t performing up to par or you need a different design in order to drain more efficiently, McCrary’s Plumbing has your solution. We’ll install new floor drains designed to work for the size of room and type of use you require, whether in a health care setting, a staff kitchen, a stadium, a food processing plant or other business sector.

Floor drains are common in many businesses. They may be found in garages, utility closets and on driveways as well as older bathrooms. These drains are equipped with a trap that should be kept filled with water to prevent odors and sewer gas from escaping. While it is best to install the drain during the building of the garage, you can also retrofit an existing garage.

A well-designed drain system consisting of one or more drain grates will effectively move water from the floor to an appropriate location outside the business. A typical system consists of a grate connected to a riser pipe that, in turn, connects to a horizontal drain pipe that penetrates the garage wall; the grate sits flush with the garage floor, and the riser and drain pipe are buried beneath the slab. Drain grates are available in a range of sizes to accommodate your anticipated volume of run-off water, and the best size and number of grates to install will depend on how wet your area is.
